Market Sounding Forum

Sounding Forum

Dec 17-18 • 2019

The Westin Jersey City Newport • Jersey City, NJ

NJ TRANSIT is holding a Market Sounding Forum for the NJ TRANSITGRID* project (Project) to describe the Project and solicit feedback from industry participants interested in an investment partnership. Join us to learn more about this innovative, first-of-its-kind, microgrid project designed as a resilient solution to frequent power interruptions in the Northeast. During the forum, NJ TRANSIT will also present ideas on how the Project might be delivered under an investment partnership, affording potential participants the opportunity to ask questions and network with other contractors and suppliers who may be interested in pursuing this project.

Program Overview and Goals
The Project is a first-of-its-kind microgrid designed to provide reliable power during emergencies for NJ TRANSIT’s Morris & Essex and Hudson-Bergen Light Rail lines as well as Amtrak’s critical Northeast Corridor. NJ TRANSITGRID will be able to power these services even if disconnected from the commercial power grid, ensuring local and regional rail services remain operational longer and are fully restored quickly.

NJ TRANSIT invites firms qualified to implement and manage all or part of such a project to a Market Sounding Forum to discuss the agency’s overall project goals and objectives, as well as opportunities for investment partnership arrangements to deliver the Project. During this forum, NJ TRANSIT will present options on how NJ TRANSITGRID might be structured under such an arrangement, details on the procurement process, and a broad timeline for delivering the Project.

Join us to learn about this innovative project and how your firm can participate in this endeavor. The forum will also afford an opportunity to network with other interested industry participants, as well as ask questions regarding:

  • Project details, scope and technical specifications
  • Overall procurement timeline
  • Grant funding commitments
  • Environmental aspects
  • Investment partnership and payment structure
  • Opportunities for local contractors
  • Desired community benefits
