The Final Scoping Document for the NJ TRANSITGRID TRACTION POWER SYSTEM is now available. The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) and NJ TRANSIT are preparing an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the NJ TRANSITGRID TRACTION POWER SYSTEM in accordance with National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and FTA regulations.
The project, a first-of-its kind microgrid, is designed to provide highly reliable power to a core segment of NJ TRANSIT’S critical transportation services and infrastructure during power outages of the commercial electric grid.
The Final Scoping Document identifies the methodologies that will be used to assess the project’s potential to cause significant social, economic, and environmental impacts. In addition, the Agency and Public Coordination Plan for the project is also available.
